Data Deletion Instructions

Effective date: 8 November 2026

1. Delete your account

Signed in, open Account and choose Delete account at the bottom of the page, then type DELETE to confirm. If you have a subscription, it is cancelled at that moment; refunds follow our Refund Policy (email us within 14 days). What happens, and when:

• Immediately: your account and everything stored with it — scripts, reports, reels, drafts, clips, images, narration audio, videos you uploaded, your YouTube connection (also revoked at Google) and the link to your billing — are deleted from our live systems.
• Within 7 days: reel video files assembled on our servers are deleted.
• Up to 30 days: our server logs, which can contain your account ID and email address but no YouTube data, are kept for up to 30 days and then deleted.
• Within 7 days: backup copies of your data are deleted automatically. Our database keeps recovery copies for 7 days so we can undo mistakes; after that, your data cannot be recovered.

Invoices for any payments are kept by Stripe, our payment processor, as the financial records the law requires. Anonymous scoring statistics stay, with their link to your account removed (section 5).

2. Delete data stored on your device

When you are signed in, your scripts, reports, reels and drafts are stored on our servers with your account, and section 1 deletes them. Your browser keeps only what the site needs to work: your language and style choices, Reel Studio work in progress, notices you have dismissed, your channel's name while it is connected, any API keys you bring, and a random anonymous identifier. Before you sign in, what you type into the composer is saved in your browser's local storage so it is still there after you sign in; it is not used once it is more than an hour old. To delete everything kept on your device:

1. Open your browser's settings for site data (in Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data, or click the icon beside the address bar on vidwhale.com → Site settings).
2. Find vidwhale.com and choose Delete / Clear data.

This removes everything VidWhale kept on your device. It cannot be recovered by us — we never had a copy.

3. Revoke and delete connected Google / YouTube data

If you have connected your YouTube channel:

1. Disconnect within VidWhale — this immediately deletes your stored token (we store no channel data with it) and revokes VidWhale's access at Google.
2. Revoke at Google — visit your Google security settings, find VidWhale, and click Remove access. This invalidates all tokens.
3. Or ask us — email hello@vidwhale.com with the subject "Google data deletion request". We will delete the YouTube data associated with your connection and confirm within 30 days.

Whatever you do, we delete every piece of YouTube data we store no later than 30 days after we fetched it — see section 7 of our Privacy Policy.

4. Ask us instead

If you cannot sign in, email hello@vidwhale.com from your account's address with the subject "Data deletion request". We will delete your account exactly as in section 1 and confirm within 7 days. The same address covers anything else we hold, such as email correspondence with us.

5. What cannot be deleted (because it never identified you)

VidWhale keeps anonymous scoring statistics (described in our Privacy Policy) containing only score numbers, topic category, and structural features like word count — never your script text, your name, or anything identifying. These records cannot be traced back to any person, which is why they cannot be selectively deleted; they contain no personal data to delete.
