Data Deletion Instructions

Effective date: 6 July 2026

Because VidWhale is designed local-first, most of your data lives in your own browser — which means you can delete most of it yourself, instantly, without asking us. This page explains every category of data and exactly how to remove it.

1. Delete data stored on your device

Your scripts, analysis results, preferences, bring-your-own API keys, and anonymous identifier are stored only in your browser's local storage. To delete all of it:

  1. Open your browser's settings for site data (in Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data, or click the icon beside the address bar on vidwhale.com → Site settings).
  2. Find vidwhale.com and choose Delete / Clear data.

This removes everything VidWhale kept on your device. It cannot be recovered by us — we never had a copy.

2. Revoke and delete connected Google / YouTube data

If you have connected your YouTube channel (a feature arriving soon):

  1. Disconnect within VidWhale — VidWhale immediately stops accessing your Google data.
  2. Revoke at Google — visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find VidWhale, and click Remove access. This invalidates all tokens.
  3. Request deletion of stored analytics data — email hello@vidwhale.com with the subject "Google data deletion request". We will delete YouTube analytics data associated with your connection and confirm within 30 days.

3. Request deletion of anything we hold

For anything held on our side — such as email correspondence with us, or account data once account features launch — email hello@vidwhale.com from the relevant address with the subject "Data deletion request". We will action it and confirm within 30 days.

4. What cannot be deleted (because it never identified you)

VidWhale keeps anonymous scoring statistics (described in our Privacy Policy) containing only score numbers, topic category, and structural features like word count — never your script text, your name, or anything identifying. These records cannot be traced back to any person, which is why they cannot be selectively deleted; they contain no personal data to delete.
